Region 8 Training Opportunity - closed 05/05/09

Posted by admin on May 1, 2009

Region 8 Regional Council is hosting a free, one day training for staff from agencies across Region 8, which includes Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, and Wayne Counties on the national best practice, Motivational Interviewing.   The response to this training was overwhelming and registration is filled to capacity.  Due to its popularity, Region 8 is looking into hosting a second training.  Check back for details.

What is Motivational Interviewing?
Motivational Interviewing is a tool for helping people to change. It is an “empathic, person-centered counseling approach that prepares people for change by helping them resolve ambivalence, enhance intrinsic motivation, and build confidence to change.”
(Kraybill and Morrison, 2007)
